The Spirit Of God

You fill me with your strength and peace,
when mine is almost gone.
And before I asked you in my heart,
somehow, to each belong.

You’ve helped me through my darkest time;
Near death for days, laid still.
And walked me past the agony
when love did almost kill.

Though I’ve never seen your face before,
you’ve known me all along.
And stay you will, despite the cost
and all that I’ve done wrong.

Show me once, just who You are
and what your thoughts could be.
To capture not a glimpse of You
would be unfair to me.

I may have years still left ahead,
so if you think it wise,
help me to unveil the ‘You’
that sees with Loving Eyes.
