Self Respect

To understand these wounds inside and how I need to heal,
I’ll take these years of time to learn, despite the way I feel.
Though it may seem quite strange to some, my purpose will succeed;
For by this faith I’ll always have, is strength I’ll always need.

Still, I search far deeper when a hurt has surfaced through.
It’s then, the healings stronger, not the weaker of the two.
And when I try to make a change, it often causes pain.
But these are changes I must face, where hope and love remain.

Be it far from me to cease this hate, I want removed.
For if I cannot love myself, my life will not improve.
