The Stone Garden
"I will give
them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I
will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a
heart of flesh.
Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my
laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
(Ezekiel 11:19-20)
Back in the
'80's I was struggling with a problem that ended in
heartache and humiliation. Although I had repented and
turned my back on it, I felt worthless, ugly and useless
in the sight of God. I was desperate to know how God saw
me now? I got into the car and drove, not really knowing
where I was going. I drove for about 25 minutes, pulled
into a church that I knew nothing of and walked in. There
were a few people still sitting in their seats talking.
The pastor was standing up front speaking privately with
someone. Just before I approached, the person walked away.
I looked at the pastor and told him the heartache I was
struggling with. Then I asked, "How does God see me now?"
The only thing he said to me was, "Through Jesus, God
sees you as perfect and beautiful as Eve was before the
fall."
