Knowing Scripture Does Not Give Eternal Life

When Jesus established Himself as the True Messiah, the Son of God, the religious leaders who were well studied in what we call today, "The Old Testament." They thought that knowing the Law was a guaranteed entrance into Heaven and they did not need or want Jesus for anything. Well, Satan knows scripture better than any of us and he’s certainly not going. The Old Testament proved a couple of things. One, that we cannot live a righteous life by obeying the law in our strength. We will fail every time because there is no righteousness in us. Two, it pointed the way to the only One who can give us life, and that is Jesus Christ.

If you are well studied in the Word of God and have not submitted your life to Christ and asked Him to forgive you of all sins and to wipe your slate clean and confess Him as your Lord and Savior,  then your knowledge of Scripture is useless in saving your soul. Scripture was never meant to give eternal life, only testify and lead you to the One who can.

Jesus says, “Search the scriptures; for you think that by them you have eternal life: and the scriptures are they which testify of Me and you will not come to Me, that you might have life.” (John 5:39-40)

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2Timothy 3:16-17)
