Run
With Horses
Nevertheless, the righteous will hold
to their ways, and those with clean hands will grow stronger.
(Job 17:9)

A
wise friend of mine once said to me, "Cheryl, if you
take the ministry God gave you and run with it before you
are ready, not only will you destroy yourself, but you will destroy
others along the way." Spiritually speaking, I dropped it like a
hot-potato. I knew exactly what she meant and I was not about to step
ahead of God. When the Lord tells me it's time to run, then I'll run.
This
is an intense time of training for every Christian. Jesus is healing
old wounds of the mind and heart. He is taking out those 'things' that
do not belong in us. Things that are not profitable for the Kingdom.
This is baggage that He wants us to unload and it will take time. But
as we heal and the 'old wine is replaced with the new,' we will become
stronger. The impossible will not be accomplished in our strength, but
through Christ who strengthens us. And the more of Christ that we have
in us, the stronger we will become.
One
afternoon as I was dealing with another exhausting situation that
quickly wore me out, I sat down on the couch pondering the day when I
would be better equipped to handle things the way He wants me to
without it getting the best of me. Feeling pretty much 'fed up with it
all,' I picked up the Bible, opened it and carelessly dropped it on
the coffee table with my fists under my chin and began to read. . . .
"If
you have raced with men on foot and they have wearied you, how will
you run with horses?" (Jeremiah 12:5)
Suddenly my strength was renewed and my attitude quickly changed. For
now, I will continue with my intense training until the day God puts
His ministry into my hands and tells me to Run. From then on, not
only will I leave those who have hindered me, in the dust. . . . I can run with horses.
