I was listening to
a pastor on TV talk about the scripture, "When the enemy shall come in like a
flood, (comma) the Spirit of
the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." (Isaiah 59:19) Again, he repeats
it....."When the enemy shall come in like a
flood, (comma) the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against
him." He continues to say that a flood is unstoppable.
Its strength and force no man can come against. And I thought to myself, "Yeah,
the enemy does that, I know. I've been
through it many times."
Then he said
something that confused me for a moment. He said that in the original Hebrew
text the scripture did not have
a 'comma' after the word 'flood.' I still wasn't catching on to what he was
saying until he repeated the scripture the way it
should be read......"When the enemy shall come in _____ like a flood the
Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against
him." Then I understood.
Back in '95 I attended a new church. When church was over and I stood up to
leave, a lady behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I just saw you in a
vision. You were in a raging river laying on top of a log and holding on tight.
God wants you to let go of the log." Interestingly enough, she didn't say that God
would calm the flood. Just the opposite. In a raging river, I was to let go of
the log. That's just like God. To put us in a situation that is impossible for
us to get out of so that we cannot take any of the glory or credit when He moves
on our behalf.
How often I forget that
no weapon formed against me shall prevail. And so often I forget that
no matter how I feel or how much someone has hurt me, God's promises
are just that.....a promise. Even when the rivers rage.
