Dance of the Faeries

"The sea," he said, "is not a place where I would want to be.
A secluded lake or pond can be the only life for me!"

I thought he was the only one to step out on the shore,
then coming out to greet me were at least three dozen more!

Smiling faces everywhere, as one by one they came
and introduced themselves to me, by calling out their name.

A celebrated time we had that I would soon join in.
When the leader of the group said, "Let the music now begin!"

Our time together, joyous, though my strength was failing fast.
I tried to dance all night with them, but I just couldn’t last.

I fell asleep beneath the stars; My visions drifting wild,
of me and faeries near the pond, and dancing as a child. . .
