A Perfect Day
While
Bramblewood was working in his yard, Songbird came to
greet him. "Good morning!"
said the Songbird. "How are you doing this fine morning?"
"It's a perfect
day." replied Bramblewood. "I'm finishing up my yard
work and a few other things because I will be on a journey
soon."
"Oh?" asked
Songbird curiously. "Where will you go?"
"I'm going to
explore the world and see what wonders are out there. I
want to see how others live and learn about them. We will
leave in a few days. Forest Guardian, Fawn and I will set
out early morning but I don't know how long we will be
traveling. You can't see the whole world too fast, you
know!" replied the little mouse excitedly.
"No, I guess
not." said Songbird. "It will be exciting for you, I'm
sure. You can tell me all about it when you return. Until
then I'll
be curious to know what you find and what you see while
exploring. Good-bye Bramblewood. I will come visit again
soon."
Bramblewood waved good-bye and began to think of his
journey. 'It is a little frightening going into the
unknown.' Bramblewood thought to himself. But he was sure of this one thing. . .it was something
he had to do. He looked about him and
thought how beautiful the day was. His eyes began to get
heavy while the warm sun soothed him. "I think I'll go lay down in the garden and just
think a while." he said. He put his tools away and walked
to his favorite place in the forest to lie down and enjoy
the rest of the afternoon all by himself.
It is good to
try something new and not be afraid of expanding our
interests. We were created to enjoy life, to love God and
to move forward in all we do and not to become stagnant.
Jesus and the Disciples went on many journeys. They met
new people, and saw new lands. Even if we cannot afford to
travel or don't have the ability to physically, we can
always step forward and try out new things that come
across our path each day. A new food, a new song, a new
band, a new movie, a new friend, a new love.

"Perhaps I will
stay with you awhile, or even spend the winter, so that
you can help me on my journey, wherever I go."
