Sometimes a stranger came through town and didn't live past a day or a 'new-comer' was found just outside of town. No one but God knew who they were. No relatives or friends came to claim them. The only proof of their life was an unmarked grave or a marker labeled, "Unknown." There are several "Unknown's" in Boothill.
